Dr. Sally Adebamowo has been appointed interim co-leader of the Population Sciences Program at the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC). This appointment, confirmed by the Executive Scientific Advisory Committee (ESAC) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI), places her at the forefront of UMGCCC’s efforts to understand cancer’s causes, improve patient outcomes, and reduce cancer risks.
UMGCCC’s Population Sciences Program is dedicated to exploring the multifaceted origins of cancer, as well as behaviors and environmental factors linked to cancer risk. Bringing together experts from diverse fields, the program aims to advance cancer prevention and control through rigorous research and the translation of discoveries into actionable interventions. By examining social, biological, and environmental factors, the program develops evidence-based strategies for prevention and promotes behaviors that can reduce the overall impact of cancer.
